La Mirandole

I felt like a princess in Foix in this charming, spacious room. There's a new, modern bathroom, a separate toilet, and a little garden that gets the sun, lovely for resting or having breakfast.

Parking isn't available at the property, which is in the heart of the old town. We used free Parking Vigne, about a 10-minute walk away. There's also a closer car park, but it's quite expensive. A friendly lady owns the place and has two cats. At the back of her garden is an old granary that's been converted into a room. Upstairs, the spacious room has an en suite bathroom and is full of paintings and antiques. Breakfast includes coffee or tea, juice, a croissant, fruit, jam and pastries. The blueberry treat changes, sometimes cake, sometimes tart, or another pastry with blueberries. It's served in the garden, or in the lady's kitchen when the weather is bad.

The garden is a lovely green oasis, and the street is very quiet. This bed and breakfast is ideally placed in Foix, close to the castle and the shops in the town center. The hostess gave us a wonderful welcome and was attentive to our comfort throughout. It's a refined, welcoming place where you feel at home. We highly recommend it. Eric and Didier

We were welcomed by a couple who were discreet but always available, smiling and happy to chat or share tips about Foix and the surrounding area. Breakfast was served at the time we chose, downstairs in the owners' apartment, in a pleasant setting. It was typically French and included homemade products. The price felt very reasonable for what we got. The location is hard to beat for a couple's stay or stopover in charming little Foix. The room is right in the historic center, steps from the castle, main church and best restaurants. A paid car park, charging from 9 am to 7 pm, is five minutes away on foot. A little farther on, across the bridge near the Prefecture, parking is free. The room is in a beautifully maintained old house, with its own entrance and a small shaded garden. It's upstairs, and the stairs are rather steep, so not ideal if you have mobility issues. Inside, it's roomy and romantic, with large windows and tasteful, original, cozy decor. It has all the comforts: a kettle with tea and coffee, a big shower, a sitting area with a table and chairs, and lots of brochures and books on the region and local sights. The bathroom is divided from the room by a partition, but still felt private enough for a couple. One of the most charming bed and breakfasts I've stayed in. Many thanks to Jacqueline and her husband!
