The house and garden are beautiful, and breakfast was a real highlight: plentiful, fresh, healthy, and organic. But we weren't very happy with the stay. The rooms were dark, with small windows, and during the heatwave ours felt hotter than outdoors. The host offered an air conditioner with a vent that had to go through an open window, which meant choosing between more heat or letting in more mosquitoes. Both rooms had mosquito screens with large holes. I ended up with about 30 bites despite using bug spray at night. When I raised it, the host said I just wasn't used to the countryside. I grew up there. The lovely pool was hard to enjoy too. Within ten minutes of lying on a sun lounger, ants had bitten me in several places, and five of them had made it into my bag. The host said the pool had been treated once the previous year and once this year, and there was nothing else they could do. The host was also quite critical of guests. On our first morning, we were laughed at for cutting the bread the wrong way. The couple who arrived after us were laughed at for bringing their own ham to breakfast. I'd only suggest staying here outside summer, if insects don't bother you, and for just a night or two.

We loved our two nights at Clos du Mûrier. The breakfast was really good, with fresh fruit, pastries, and local apple juice, served either on the terrace or in the veranda. Our room stayed lovely and cool even in the heatwave, and the pool is magnificent, especially with its wall from an old stable. I highly recommend it!

My daughter and I stayed for one night and were completely happy with the room, breakfast, and setting. The hosts were so welcoming and did all they could to make our stay pleasant. I highly recommend it.

The breakfast was tasty and fresh, with local strawberries, homemade bread and jams, and local apple juice. We enjoyed eating in the pleasantly decorated veranda. A little cake or a sweet or savory pastry, and more fresh fruit such as prunes from the region, would have made it even nicer. The pool is lovely for cooling down, but we couldn't relax there with so many insects, including live wasps in the water that might accidentally sting someone. We know the wasps had only appeared recently and don't blame the host for those. There had, though, been many insects for quite a while, and the problem hadn't been dealt with before we and the other guests arrived. We ended up using a pool net to scoop out as many as we could. There were yellow and brown marks on the bottom too, so we assumed the pool robot hadn't been run. A pool needs daily care; if the hosts can't tend to it each day for guests, covering it overnight would help. Some of the outdoor furniture needs attention as well. One sofa was torn. The building sits in quiet, green countryside, though right beside a small departmental road with very little traffic. We found the manager extremely discreet, perhaps too much so. We would have liked a warmer welcome and some explanation of the property's history. We often stay in bed and breakfasts and feel that chatting with guests is part of opening your home and earning a living from it. It would have been nicer if the managers had started conversations instead of leaving us to ask questions. We understood they'd only recently taken over this established bed and breakfast as a career change. We'd spoken with his partner before arrival, and although she was there during our stay, she stayed in the private area caring for their two children. There was no door between our bedroom and bathroom, where the toilet was, so we felt privacy could be an issue for couples, families, or friends traveling together. We were surprised by the €35 supplement for arriving before 5 pm, including our 4 pm arrival, even though arriving as early as 2:30 pm was possible. The fee didn't apply when booking directly through Booking.com. For us, hospitality includes flexibility. Also, it would be helpful to email invoices for payments made directly through the mobile payment terminal. We give it 7/10. There were good points, but we felt there was room to improve.

We were delighted with our first bed and breakfast stay. The place was peaceful, tastefully decorated, and impeccably clean. The young couple hosting us were charming and very attentive, as were their two children. Highly recommended!
