Camping L'Evasion

There’s a small town within walking distance, and some great cycling right from the campsite. The owners were welcoming and helpful throughout our four nights. We also really appreciated that the pool and snack bar were open in April. The kids had a great play area and pool slides, and the showers and washing-up water were hot. Facilities were always clean.

We forgot our Acsi card, but they emailed us a scan and even sent the card by post to our next camp. Thanks so much for helping us out. It was a perfect, relaxing stay, with a great pool for the kids, cool cocktails at the bar, and excellent service.

The hosts were super friendly and welcoming. We stayed at the start of the season, so we couldn’t try the restaurant. The sanitary block was clean and neither warm nor cold, though the showers could have been much hotter. There’s a motorhome service point next to it. The site is family owned and run, about 1 km from Fontes, with an even mix of pitches and mobile homes. It’s neat and tidy, and the pitches are fairly level, including those at the top of the hill. Hedging can make getting in and out a little awkward up there, even with our short 5.99m motorhome. There’s a lot of fire equipment around the site, which suggests they’ve experienced bush fires or are prepared for them. It’s been very dry in the area for a long time, and the streams and river were low or dry. The walk to Caveau in Fontes is worthwhile for a tasting, with some award winning wines available. The site is part of the 'Relais Motards' umbrella and welcomes bikers. I may come back with my mates to tour the lovely twisty roads nearby, promoted by the regional tourist board.

The facilities were good, but the camping pitches were poor, and the stay fell short of what I expected.
