Camping de la minière

The stay was very pleasant, with neatly arranged private pitches and a friendly reception. There are lots of nice improvements underway, though the washroom facilities could use some attention.

We arrived late, so we were at fault, but I don't think we deserved to be shouted at, or spoken to so loudly. My friend and I called the number, then the owner arrived very angry and told us to leave. When we asked where else we could go, he said, "u can go and ask the police". I'm sure it's a good camping spot if you get there before 19. When you're late, though, the service gets really unfriendly, and there are better ways to handle it. I'd have given more stars otherwise.

In July 2025, there was a swimming pool, and we got great advice for an excellent restaurant. The village is only a 500m walk away, with good shops and services, and Supper U is nearby, open 9:00 to 12:30 Sunday. The site is well tended, the office staff are very friendly, and the older showers and loos were very clean. At 2 1/2 hrs from Calais, it's a handy first or last stop. There's also a connected village.

This makes a handy stop for the port or train around Calais, or a place to pause before exploring more of France at the start of a holiday. The large pitches are close to town, the Musee de resistance, the lakes and Casino. There are several walks, including along the old railway line, now a footpath, and a long cycleway. Everything on site was very clean, and it has all the facilities. The showers were hot, though a cold wind blew into the wash area during our visit. The basin and dishwashing water was only lukewarm, but there is a hot water tap on the outside wall of the facilities. There are static homes and a couple of tents to rent. By the driveway gate, where the footpath to town starts, there's also an enclosure with a couple of goats and a chicken.
