Saint-Foy-le-Grande, just down the hill, was a lovely place to explore. I found little shops, tucked-away tea rooms, beauty spots for a bit of pampering, and even a pottery studio. There’s a Saturday market too, which I’ll have to come back for. The château also makes a great base for visiting Saint Emillion, Bordeaux, and Bergerac, all an easy drive away. I’d booked a last-minute solo trip to Château Masburel and felt a little nervous about going somewhere new on my own. That disappeared as soon as I arrived. Chris and Irma were so warm, kind, and easy to talk to, and the château felt like a peaceful little slice of heaven, beautifully decorated throughout. The bed was sumptuous and the pillows felt like sleeping on a cloud. Breakfast was generous and delicious. Irma showed me how wine is made at the vineyard, then Chris did a tasting with me. I bought as much as my suitcase could fit, so leave some room! I can’t recommend the place enough, and I’m already planning another visit. Thanks, Chris and Irma, for such a lovely stay.

The wine tour and tasting were two of the best parts of our stay. Breakfast was generous and delicious, too. We loved the beautiful rooms and gardens at Chateau Masburel. It’s such a peaceful haven, and we had a wonderful time there. Dear Chris and Irma, thank you for having us.

Chris was such a kind, welcoming host, and we’d definitely recommend staying here. We spent two nights at Masburel and had a really lovely time. The property is beautiful, the location is lovely, and it’s well placed for exploring the area.

The tasting at the end of our visit included two whites and two reds, and we liked them enough to buy at least one bottle of each. The prices were very reasonable. Arnaud gave us a private tour of the grounds and shared wine facts we hadn’t heard before. He knows his subject, and his passion and down-to-earth manner made the visit even better. We also found the building’s history rich and interesting. A peaceful, authentic, and delicious way to spend an afternoon. We’d definitely recommend this winery.

We were driving from Finland to Spain and came across this place by chance. What a great find. It was beautiful, everything was in top shape, and the rooms were comfortable. Breakfast was really high quality, and I had the best sleep ever. Highly recommended!
