Logis Auberge du Tuye

We’ve stayed here twice, and it makes a wonderful, relaxing base for exploring the surrounding area, including Besançon. It’s a little out of the way, but the rooms are charming. The breakfast is fantastic by French standards, and the on-site restaurant serves Parisian-quality cuisine. In the mornings, cowbells wake you, but not too early, as cows are driven through the village.

The Jura dining room is very typical, and we ate really well. The inn sits in the middle of a characterful village surrounded by farms, and it’s a peaceful getaway with plenty of charm. We stayed one night in February 2015 and got a very warm welcome. The newer suites are beautifully done, but our upstairs room felt a little dated and could use some renovation. We were also unlucky with the TV, which didn’t work because of the snow. The reception area and way to the rooms are a bit cramped, though the stone floor and fireplace give them character. One drawback is the €10 per person per day charge for lounge access, which is only available from 5 pm to 10 pm. The website shows the suites but not the standard rooms. I’d still recommend the place for its charm.

The wine list is remarkable for a place like this, and the food is exceptional for the price. Very pleasant hotel and excellent value.

The cooking was a festival of delights, and the calm here is almost unbelievably peaceful. Thank you to Sylvie and Pascal Bole. I’d come back without hesitation and highly recommend the place.
