Le Pavillon de Rouen

For a one-night break in the drive, the receptionist made a good impression, very welcoming and happy to help. Breakfast was good too. The room, though, felt cramped and small.

Update the next day: they did try to reach me by phone, but somehow it didn't get through. My company had also given them the wrong email address. I missed the second phone number on the door, lower down the page, with instructions only in French. They apologized and handled it properly. It's all sorted now, and they'll make the right number more visible to prevent this happening again. When I arrived just before 10 PM, the gate was shut, though the pedestrian entrance was open. Reception was dark and the doors were closed. Calling went straight to voicemail, and I couldn't get in. No one had tried to contact me before reception closed, so I had to find another hotel for the night.

The hotel is very nice and conveniently close to Rouen, and the staff were polite and helpful. We could hear other guests being loud in the corridor overnight.

The bed was okay, but the shower is tiny and slippery. It's a long way from the city center, and reception and the bar shut at night. If you lose your key, there's no way to get back into your room.
