La Bastide du Clos des Roses

We had the €43 prix fixe lunch, and it was excellent value. The setting is beautiful and the restaurant is fabulous. I'd highly recommend a wine tasting followed by lunch, either in the elegant dining room or outside on the terrace under the plane trees.

We left the hotel the same day. The room had been dirty, with stains on the sheets, pillows, and mattress, plus several hairs on the mattress cover. We asked staff to clean it and waited by the pool. Beside the pool was an uncovered hole under a thin cover. I stepped on it, the cover broke, and I fell in. My clothes and shoes got filthy. We complained to the manager, who was rude, didn't apologize, and didn't refund the room. We only got our money back after leaving, with no compensation for what happened. The hotel was in awful condition, and the customer service was poor. Owner, your response only backs up what I said about the customer service. I want future guests to understand the health and safety situation and how complaints are handled. The hole was right beside the pool, not in some unlikely spot at the far end, as the photo shows, and there was no sign warning of the hazard. You tried to wash my shoes and said you'd done your best but couldn't clean them. It seems they weren't washed properly, since the next hotel managed to clean them completely. Reimbursing me for my brand new shoes isn't customer service. Customer service means following regulations so this kind of incident doesn't happen in the first place. Your management and response speak for the quality of service you provide.

The location is actually very good, but the room was dirty and the service was terrible. They told us to wait outside by the pool while it was cleaned. There was a hole full of dirty water beside the pool with no warning sign or proper cover, and my partner fell into it. The owner was terrible and very rude. He didn't seem to care, only saying this had never happened before. He didn't even come to see us, just called.

Whenever we're in the area, we visit this upscale restaurant set in a marvelous vineyard. We have a house in Sainte Maxime, so we've only experienced the restaurant and winery.
