The dinner I agreed to when I arrived turned out to be amazing, so I’m really glad they asked. I stayed two nights, and everyone was so kind and helpful. I loved the place and will definitely come back.

My dog had a great time playing with the owners’ dog, and we really enjoyed the surroundings. It’s a distinctive little hotel in a charming old village, and we were warmly welcomed. The large room’s strong colours felt cheerful but also a little unsettling, and we wished we could see out of the window. It was a bit cold, too, and the breakfast was very poor for the price. Still, it was an interesting stay. Thanks, and my dog was very happy.

The owner, an elderly lady, was really lovely, and she cooks the daily menu very well. It’s all homemade, with an appetizer, a main course, and dessert. This is a village hotel in a rather old setting, and you have to climb a steep staircase to reach the room. The windows can’t be opened and there’s no view outside, which could be a problem if you feel uncomfortable in enclosed spaces. Parking is across the road at the village government building. Getting to and from the hotel can be hazardous since it sits on a bend at a crossroads. Apart from the stairs, it was a pretty good experience.

The Hotel du Mouton Blanc has just five rooms, each with its own character, plus tea and coffee facilities and even a shared microwave. My breakfast was good value, as was the hotel, and the patronne was helpful. I stopped for one night at this delightful little place because it was convenient, but I’d certainly return. There used to be hundreds of simple family-run hotels like this across France. Few are left now, with soulless chains taking their place.

The food is great, and the owner is very nice. A really good place to stop for the night on the way through, and the small detour is definitely worth it.
