Our room was spacious and clean, with a private bathroom and toilet. We stayed two nights at the Manoir de Vauville in former stables that have been completely restored. The owners were incredibly kind and looked after us so well. The shared kitchen and living/dining room were nicely laid out, with vintage decor we loved. Breakfast was generous, with milk fresh from their dairy cows, plus homemade yogurt and jams. The countryside setting is idyllic and quiet, with cows all around and a very affectionate young Dalmatian. A lovely spot if you’re fond of farm animals. We’ll definitely come back! 🌳

We cut our stay short after two nights instead of three. The snoring from guests in the other two rooms carried through the night, and there was very little privacy. For a place advertised as quiet and relaxing, that was a shame. The general discomfort and worrying about the dog as we crossed the aisle to our room made it hard to relax. The cleanliness really needs attention. It felt unhygienic, and the bed was extremely uncomfortable. Be cautious if you’re expecting a larger bed, as it’s an old wooden one. The dog was out of control, biting and scratching us until we bled. We expected a better welcome when we entered our room, and an apology from the owner. Breakfast was just a piece of bread, possibly frozen, jam, and yogurt.

We had a very pleasant stay in this lovely manor house. The welcome was excellent, and the garden is magnificent. Our room in the former stables was large and clean. There’s a kitchen where you can make meals, and breakfast is simple, with milk from the farm. I recommend it for good value.

The welcome was pleasant when we arrived, but as soon as we raised any of the issues below, the owner became aggressive and stopped greeting us. I wouldn’t recommend the place. We thought we’d be staying in a lovely manor house, but actually ended up in a stable converted into three bedrooms. The owners are responsible for that misleading impression. There was a musty smell. We saw one fly before going to sleep and about ten when we woke up. Flypaper covered in flies was stuck to the table, with a message saying, “Bon appétit!” Breakfast was extremely basic: industrial orange juice, frozen bread the owner warmed up in front of us, one packaged slice per person, and no pastries. There was expired food in the fridge too. The owner turned off the heating whenever we went out, so we came back to a freezing room. She said she’d forgotten to switch it back on. I’ve never seen anything like it. There was no Wi-Fi, and the sofa was just a piece of metal with three cushions that we had to share with others.
