The room was spartan, just a bed, closet and chair, and the bathroom felt cramped. There was no Wi-Fi. The staff seemed to struggle with the idea that someone might not want to chat, and seemed offended when I spoke with my partner in their native language. Being called “my little man” felt condescending. I’ve seen enough, I won’t be back.

We had a large, comfortable room in a winemaker’s home surrounded by vineyards, and Christine and Daniel Pollier gave us a warm welcome. We also took the chance to stock up on Mr. Pollier’s fine wines, which he offers in a wide selection. A lovely stay! Jean and Sylvie Ellminger from Alsace
