Plaza Futuroscope

We arrived late at night, and the staff quickly found us a room at a really good price. Everyone was nice, and the hotel was very clean.

It was 13° outside that day, and the room felt cold as soon as we walked in. We tried setting the heat to 22° and then to the maximum, but it wasn’t running at all. After several calls to reception, all they could offer was an extra quilt. That’s not what I’d expect from a hotel calling itself four-star.

The room was spacious, clean, and laid out well. I liked the long, sleek ledge for putting things on, and the lamp built into the wall. Breakfast was nice, and the hotel was very child-friendly. Check-in was easy, and the staff were friendly, though the place feels a bit retro. I wouldn’t call it a four-star hotel, though. There was brown scale inside the kettle, which put me off using it. The towels were small, there was pink mold between the shower tiles and in the sink overflow, and the basic shower head wouldn’t stay in place. You also have to call reception to get the AC switched on or adjusted.

The location near Futuroscope was good, but we wouldn’t recommend this hotel, mostly because the air conditioning didn’t work. We had booked directly through the hotel website for three rooms, two Premium doubles and one Premium twin, for six adults from May 10-13. The rooms were very warm, and when we asked reception about the AC, we were told it had been shut off for cost reductions during that period. They gave us a fan for each room. We couldn’t believe the website listed air conditioning as a room feature when it wasn’t operating. The rooms were expensive, but it was a special weekend, celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary with our two daughters and their friend, and spending two days at Futuroscope. Breakfast and dinner were okay, though there could have been more variety and options. We had drinks at the bar lounge a couple of times, but the bar employee was nowhere to be found and appeared minutes later. The last time, reception had to call her to serve us. There were also lots of young people using several conference rooms that weekend. It turned out Hip-Hop International France was being held at the hotel. Maybe that was why we couldn’t park in the lot. We went outside the hotel and luckily found a space nearby.
