Hôtel Porte de Genève

The photos don't show what the hotel is really like, and the cleanliness could be much better. The room was cold, but the air conditioner was right beside the bed. Turning it off at night meant freezing, while leaving it on blew warm air directly at us all night, dried us out, and made it hard to breathe.

We booked for four days on a school trip. When my friend and I first entered the room, we noticed a strange smell. It got stronger when we opened the bathroom door, and we traced it to the sink. When we opened it to wash our hands, water started dripping from the pipe. Some other people had the same issue. The staff service was awful. We asked for our dirty towels to be changed, but they refused. Breakfast was barely anything, just half a baguette, a croissant, and some toppings. The hotel's location may be good, but the quality was so poor that I wouldn't recommend it even for one night.

We spent nine days here as a family, using it as a base for trips around the beautiful Savoy region and the French part of Switzerland. The location worked really well, especially with a rental car, and the price was reasonable. The rooms are basic, but clean and quiet, so it felt like good value for a three-star hotel. What made the stay especially nice was the genuinely positive, kind staff. We felt welcome every day. Breakfast was another highlight, with local cheese and ham, fresh croissants and bread, and great coffee. For a three-star place, I thought it was exceptional. The dinner special was delicious, with typical French recipes, and the restaurant chef was both skilled and kind. They also had familiar options such as pizzas and large salads. We'd happily recommend it, and hope the review helps.

It was a horrible experience. The staff were quite rude, the food lacked flavor, and the rooms were pretty disgusting. There wasn't any WiFi either. I don't recommend it.
