Le Mas de la Tour

We had a terrible night and would give this place zero stars if we could. It felt like Faulty Towers without the charm. At check-in we were told the hotel was full, so there was no dinner table available. The nearest restaurants were 3-7 km away, and staff said “good luck” finding a table because there seemed to be a music festival nearby. One person was covering the restaurant, bar, and reception despite the hotel being full. We waited 15 minutes for a drink, then gave up and went to our room. When we returned, the electricity was out. The only staff member ran frantically over from the restaurant, and the power came back. At 1 a.m. we woke to find the air conditioning off. It was broken, and nobody was at reception. It was 36 degrees, so we couldn’t sleep. There were no windows to open, only stable doors, which we kept shut because of the mosquitoes. The plumbing pipes in our room gurgled whenever anyone in another room used water. In the morning we found scorpions on the floor. When we told the receptionist at checkout that we’d had a terrible night, she raised her voice and snapped at us. She wouldn’t take feedback and didn’t apologize. We paid and left. She’d also overcharged us: our room was about €185, but we paid €212.22. We hadn’t had breakfast, so we didn’t know where the extra amount came from. We didn’t want to stay another moment with the very aggressive, sarcastic staff member, so we left. If you don’t want to sleep in a barn-like room with rude staff in the middle of nowhere, find somewhere else. Update: three days later, they sent a bank transfer refund for the breakfast charge, even though we hadn’t eaten breakfast.
