Gite Les Kiwis

We booked two nights, July 15th to 17th, but left after the first night. We hadn't been given a key, so we couldn't come and go freely. Whenever we returned, we had to ring the bell and wait for the host to open the door, if they were available. On Saturday night, because of a family event, the host told us we had to be back before 12:30 AM. Having to pay while living under a curfew was unacceptable to us, so we decided to leave. There was no curfew mentioned when we booked, and when we checked the listing again on July 16th, it still wasn't there. We had kept screenshots because the host quickly changed the listing, in a way that felt dishonest, probably assuming we would pay for both nights despite leaving after the first. When we departed, the host showed a bill and told my partner they couldn't charge us for the second night, since we obviously hadn't stayed there. The whole thing was disappointing. The idea of reverting to childhood, with a mother waiting up and imposing a curfew, may appeal to some, but it wasn't what we were after. If you want that infantilizing atmosphere, the place might suit you. If you want to travel freely, look elsewhere.

The buildings are beautiful and well located, and parking was easy. We were charmed by the place and so grateful for the warm welcome, kindness, availability, and generosity. We'd have given it a shower of stars if we could.

We stayed in the Seudre suite, which was very spacious and impeccably clean. The owners were friendly and welcoming, and the dogs and cat were adorable. We'll definitely come back when we get the chance.

The house is magnificent, right in the city center, easy to reach and close to the highway. Our room was lovely, bright, and spacious, with a large bathroom and comfortable bedding. The dinners and breakfasts were generous, with local products, and the service was impeccable. Parking, Wi-Fi, and television were available. A welcoming, quiet, comfortable bed and breakfast, and an excellent stay.
