Hôtel Restaurant Le Lion d'Or

We came back this year after our first visit last year, when our car had broken down, because we loved the hotel so much. Pierre and the team gave us amazing service again, and Pierre, merci pour tout. Your kindness means a lot. The hotel is parfect. We'll be back again.

The food was really tasty and great value, and we enjoyed the whole formule midi lunch. There was a lively atmosphere, with friendly, attentive staff and plenty of local diners, family and work groups, plus regulars. The place was clearly popular.

This was a cozy place to pause on our trip between Belgium and Spain, and we could bring our King Charles spaniel since pets are allowed in the rooms. It's a quiet, pretty village square, only a few minutes from the highway and far enough from the noise. Our room was basic but spacious, clean, with a comfortable queen-size bed and an updated bathroom. We had a view of the church square, blackout shutters, and a very quiet night. The owner or manager replied quickly to Google messages. Parking was easy right out front, except on market days. Downstairs, the restaurant was a good deal, with local specialties and wine at reasonable prices. We visited in November, so it was cozy indoors, though in warm weather it would be lovely to eat outside for dinner or breakfast.

We stopped just for lunch on a busy Wednesday. The setting was very pleasant, the food tasted good, and the menu had a decent range of wines and French beers. There was a choice of a la carte, set menu, or the chef's special. Service was great, and several languages were spoken. I didn't see the hotel rooms.
