We slept really well both nights, thanks in part to an exceptionally comfortable bed. The pool was quiet on that warm Friday in late July, with just three adults there, and our room looked over the sheltered pool and gardens. Even though the hotel sits in a commercial park northeast of Gien, inside the grounds it was so peaceful you wouldn’t know it. We arrived mid-afternoon, were made very welcome, left our bags in the room, then went straight for a swim. That evening we drove a short way into Gien and spent an enjoyable, reasonably inexpensive evening by the Loire. The included continental breakfast was enough to keep us going until teatime. Little things account for the missing star: the bath panel was broken, the plug was blocked, the curtain wasn’t properly fixed to its rail, and the pool area needed sweeping or hosing down. They were minor, though, and won’t stop us returning next year.

We felt very welcome. We had a timing issue and asked to check in early, and our request was accepted with a smile.

The room was a good size, clean, nicely presented, and had a comfortable bed. The lounge was good too, and breakfast was average but included in the price. Restaurants such as Mc Donald and Buffallo grill are within walking distance. The main difficulties were that management wouldn’t allow either early check-in or late checkout, and no staff member spoke or understood English. We also booked a taxi through the hotel, but it never showed up.

My first bad experience with ibis. The room was in poor condition and dirty, the bed was dirty too, and I had to flush the toilet twice. Breakfast was cold food only, and there was no restaurant.

A pleasant place to stay, and parking is free. Just don’t run the shower at full blast or the bathroom will flood.
