Maison Lac du Der

The chalet worked well for the four of us, though not having soap or towels was a low point. Reception staff were welcoming and helpful. It’s a somewhat out-of-the-way spot beside a large leisure lake. In my opinion, it's good for families, especially those with younger children.

We had an affordable breakfast, and the clean bed linen was crisp, though it cost extra. The beds themselves were comfortable. The cottage had a kitchenette, two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a living room. It's near the lake, although you do have to walk to reach it. Some parts felt dated, especially the living room. In summer, a 7 pm check-in cutoff seems too early. The pool had closed by the time we arrived and still wasn't open the next morning.

There’s plenty to do with family here, including tree climbing, swimming, cycling, water sports, tennis, and more. Nearby restaurants serve great food, and there’s a casino too. Staff speak English. We visited in May or June and ran into lots of mosquitoes and other bugs.

The place is beautiful, but our cottage was extremely basic. The lovely beer at the bar earned the two stars.
