Chateau de Gilly

We arrived late and wanted dinner, so we called ahead. They emailed the room service menu to make sure our order could be ready before the kitchen closed. When we got to the lobby, our food was waiting in glass containers, still steaming, and the team kindly let us eat wherever we liked. We picked the bar area. The staff were gracious and professional throughout, and they made us and our dog feel right at home. The service here is top notch. I highly recommend it.

The hotel has a bit of an outdated feel, but that’s part of its charm. Renovating might mean higher room prices, and the only thing I wished the bedrooms had was full-length mirrors. We had a really great stay, though, and will certainly return. The location is beautiful, the bedrooms are large and comfortable, and the food is very good. Staff were friendly, especially at breakfast, and the price felt fair for what we got.

We had a long wait before anyone took our order, though the waiters and receptionists were friendly. The food itself was good, but the restaurant is downstairs, so you can't enjoy the lovely garden view while eating. We stayed one night at this historic hotel. The room was fine, but some bathroom details could be better for a place of this kind. Breakfast was a letdown: at 9:45 there were no croissants, fruit, or eggs. With details like that, I didn't feel the price matched the quality.

We spent four nights here and really enjoyed our stay. The village is lovely for walks, with a couple of antique shops, and the chateau itself is beautiful. The staff were courteous, welcoming professionals, and the restaurant was happy to make substitutions and special orders, which is unusual. The food was great. Our room was rustic, spacious, and comfortable, though the bathroom could use modernizing.
