The owner’s behavior toward my partner was by far the most upsetting part of our stay. Because he is Turkish, she called him an "uneducated European" dozens of times. When we said we didn’t know about the rule against outside food and drinks, including bottled water in our own room, she replied condescendingly, “Educated Europeans are aware of these things.” For the record, my partner has a PhD in economics. Her treatment of him was hurtful and sad, and it’s unacceptable to encounter that kind of ignorance in hospitality. The owner’s confrontational manner made us uncomfortable throughout the stay. Other travelers’ reviews mention verbal aggression, pettiness, rules made up on the spot, and punishment for not following them, and we experienced the same things. I wish I’d done more research before booking. There were other serious problems too. The operation seemed unprofessional and understaffed, with no basic services like waste bins, room cleaning, general assistance, or even an extra towel or ice when requested. A long list of rules and expectations wasn’t explained in advance. If you broke one of these surprise rules, you could be scolded like a child, subjected to belligerent diatribes, and locked out of community areas. There was no Wi-Fi, despite it being advertised as an amenity on the booking site. The owner verbally assaulted us, and her antagonistic temperament was completely unacceptable and appalling.
