The apartment stayed pleasantly cool even when it was over 30 degrees Celsius, despite having no air conditioning. It’s well equipped with an oven, dishwasher, Nespresso machine, Wi-Fi, linens, and towels, and the free cleaning halfway through longer stays is handy. Denis welcomed us, took time to explain things in perfect English, and shared plenty of tips for trips and restaurants. The apartment is part of the well-kept Domaine les Bastidons complex. The pool is beautifully landscaped and very large; during the day we often had it nearly to ourselves, though it gets busier in the afternoon. There probably aren’t enough parasols by the pool. That didn’t bother us, since it’s only a few steps away and we could relax in the shade in front of the apartment. Gordes is one of Provence’s most beautiful villages, and a popular viewpoint is right outside the complex. It’s a pleasant, flat 10-minute walk into town, where there are shops, restaurants, a bakery, and a small supermarket. A large supermarket and Aldi are about a 10-minute drive away. The apartment, complex, location, and surroundings made for a perfect Provence holiday.

Getting groceries was a little difficult because the place is somewhat out of the way, even though it’s a good base for lots of tourist destinations. The welcome was friendly but not quite adequate. We don’t speak any Italian, but we could manage in English. The property is clean, comfortable, and pleasant, with everything we needed in the apartment, and the pool was a nice alternative. It would work very well for families with children.
