Villa Hautvallon

The owner and her helper, Laura, are lovely. Breakfast was well presented, and the decor, old-world atmosphere, nature and service were all 10/10. On arrival, I felt as if I’d stepped into a fairytale, and I wanted to stay in that place that felt like stepping back in time. We debated staying in Bonnieux, but I’m so glad we chose Gordes!

Pierre, Caroline and the staff gave us excellent service throughout our stay. My wife and I celebrated our 40th anniversaries and 70th birthdays there with another couple, staying five nights, and none of us wanted to leave. The villa is a true gem, in a beautiful, relaxing setting just a short walk from Gordes' main square. The rooms, grounds, pool, villa and dining room were all spectacularly appointed, and breakfast each morning was plentiful and delicious. The Luberon is beautiful, with so many lovely villages to explore, wineries to visit and dining options to choose from. We can’t wait to come back.

With only five rooms, the villa often feels like you have the whole place to yourself. We stayed in the two-bedroom suite, which was beautifully put together for relaxing, living and sleeping. Breakfast was delicious in the stunning summer room by the pool. Lunch was informal, seasonal and delicious, served in quiet, romantic spots around the garden. Pierre and his team gave us a genuine, discreet welcome and helped make a perfect four-night stay in August. As two stressed Londoners, we wanted a corner of Provence that didn’t feel clichéd or too touristy, and this quietly luxurious home from home was just right. Gordes is a short walk away. We’d recommend The Bastide de Pierres for an authentic Tuscan break from traditional Provencal food. Le Trinquette was fine but forgettable, so personally I wouldn’t recommend it. Pierre has plenty of good suggestions for places to eat if you’re stuck. Don’t hesitate to book and enjoy your own slice of what A Good Year promises.

Pierre and his family welcomed us so warmly and made us feel at home. They were always available, very accommodating, and shared local recommendations that really added to the trip. Our family stayed at this beautiful villa in May, and it was unforgettable. The peaceful location is stunning, surrounded by nature and just a short walk from Gordes village. The villa is full of character, beautifully maintained, and had everything we needed for a comfortable, relaxing stay.
