Hostellerie du Pavillon St Hubert

It’s a quiet, laid-back village setting with a lovely river view, about 1:20h from Paris city centre. On sunny days you can sit outside and watch boats go by, and people from the village come in for dinner too. The rooms are good and well kept, though they’re one floor up and there’s no elevator. Breakfast is French style, with baguette, croissant, cheese, something sweet, and good coffee. A nice place to relax.

The food was good quality and good value, though it wasn’t especially creative, and the service was very good. The room was pleasant. Staff replied promptly to my reservation email, and I appreciated that they spoke English. It’s easy enough to find with GPS, but a bit out of the way. Right on the river Oise, it would make a lovely summer stop for an afternoon or evening.

Jerome was a helpful server who knew the menu well and gave good suggestions for pairing food with wine. The lady manager was very accommodating, and the food was delicious. The place was stunning, with an amazing view of the lake, especially on a bright day.

We chose this hotel mainly because it was close to a wedding venue and looked picturesque. The management and service were friendly, and we had lunch there. The food was good, with a decent menu for €39 euros. The room felt bare and run down, though the beds were quite good. The shower was awful, with weak pressure, a leaking head, and only lukewarm water. Breakfast was a big disappointment at 10 euros. There were store-bought industrial croissants, several-day-old cake, and no cold cuts or cheese. The coffee from the large machine was pretty bad. The bread was good and plentiful, and seemed to be the only thing worth eating. I expected more. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. We paid €80 per night per person, which is the absolute most I’d pay for a room like that.
