Hotel Au Comte D'Ornon

We were only stopping over on our way from Spain back to Switzerland, but the jacuzzi and sauna gave us a relaxing break. The restaurant was a pleasant surprise too, with inventive cocktails and authentic food. The room was small but very tidy, recently refurbished, and well equipped. Great air conditioning, a good shower, a Nespresso machine, and cool bed linen. The receptionist was resourceful and greeted us with a huge smile that somehow made everything feel okay. A big shout out to everyone for making us feel so welcome!

We picked this hotel for its EV charging, only to find it was very expensive and not free. That was a mistake. The location also didn’t work well for tourism: it’s in an industrial area, far from Bordeaux city center, and the highway traffic can be horrendous. Our room was clean, but small for two people staying more than a day or two. I imagine one of the larger rooms with a sofa would have been better. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast and dinner were passable, and breakfast is otherwise hard to find nearby. Keep in mind that restaurants in the area are mostly closed on Sundays and some other days.

The shower drain was blocked when I arrived, so the water backed up and I had to run the shower very slowly. I reported it at the desk expecting an apology and someone to come check. Instead, I was told the cleaners always clear the plug holes. When I asked if someone could at least take a look, I got a very angry look in return, as if I’d insulted the hotel. The woman, who may have been one of the managers, came with me, glanced at it, and said nothing was wrong without properly checking. I was very disappointed by how my report was handled and how I was treated. It’s a business trip, so at least I’m not paying myself, but I won’t stay here again if I return.

The receptionist was so kind. It’s about 25min from the city, but we liked the hotel. Everything was clean, including the simple, pleasant room. Breakfast wasn’t anything special, though it had what we needed. We were happy with our stay.
