Camping La Paoute

The pitch we had was decent, though quite a distance from the bathrooms. This campsite has potential and sits in a good area with large stores nearby, but I wouldn’t come back or stay longer than one night. The bathrooms are very old and don’t seem to be properly cleaned, perhaps just sprayed down with a hose. The dishwashing sinks are awful: the tap isn’t adjusted properly and splashes so much that you get soaked, making it really hard to wash anything. That’s insulting at these prices. Some showers have such strong pressure that the water can almost hurt. The buttons don’t seem to serve any useful purpose, and there’s clearly no water saving when they’re set up like that. None of the fixtures seem properly adjusted. Wi-Fi could have been included in the price too.

It’s a nice campsite with a lot of potential, as others have said. Prices are much too high, especially when internet isn’t even included and costs 1£ per day. But the biggest problem is the owner’s lack of hospitality. In every interaction, you just don’t feel welcome.

The pool was lovely, with plenty of room to swim, and the little animal area with its giant rabbits was a hit for children. We had a shady spot for our motor home and really enjoyed our stay at the campsite. It was also handy for cycling into the beautiful town of Grasse. I’d happily come back.

We found the site easy to access, with good facilities and parking beside each pitch. It felt safe for children, and the clean, generously sized pool was a plus. The laundry was available too. Our mobile home was clean and comfortable enough, though rather sparsely equipped. Bedding, toilet paper and other basics cost extra, which was awkward for us coming from the UK. A supermarket nearby helped. We visited in summer 2018, and I’d consider staying again with my family.
