Beffroi de Gravelines

We were given a room at the front of the hotel while a fair was going on right outside. The music was so loud the walls were shaking. The hotel staff said there wasn't another room available, and that the music would go on until 2 a.m. I can't believe it. My family and I came here to recover.

The room was tiny, but breakfast was good and parking was free. It's a nice little place in the heart of the old town of graveline, about 2.5 km from the beach.

The town is nice, and there's a handy supermarket just around the corner. I've stayed at this lovely hotel twice and will book again this summer. The rooms are comfortable and breakfast was great. I'd recommend it to family and friends.

The restaurant was disappointing on our visit. We ordered the lunchtime bavette de boeuf special, one à point and one saignant, but both arrived raw inside and impossible to chew. We sent them back, but they came back with little improvement. A staff member or receptionist said they'd sold many of those dishes and nobody else had complained, suggesting we must be mistaken. It's a pity, as we would have gladly eaten in the pleasant restaurant again during our stay. The rest of the hotel came fairly close to our good experience at Hotel Tambourin a few days earlier in Vitry le Francois. The reception area is really nice, the staff are pleasant, and the rooms are clean, with comfy beds and a nice bathroom. You can pay to park outside on the square or look for free parking farther away in the side streets.
