B&B HOTEL Grenoble Centre Verlaine

The beds are comfortable, with firm mattresses, and I found the hotel quite clean. Breakfast is simpler than at some other places, but there are croissants, pain au chocolats, good bread and jams, yogurt, fruit, scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausages. I only wish they'd had pancakes and maple syrup. I was allowed to keep my bike in the garage downstairs without being charged, despite what some other reviews say. This is a great value hotel, and it seems to have improved a lot over the years. Compared with places I've stayed in Échirolles and Grenoble costing 60-100 euros, it's more modern and cheaper while offering better quality. I paid 78 euros a night, though the website seems to offer deals around 67 euros. For me, that's an outstanding price for the service and a no-brainer. The rooms are very nice for the cost. I really don't understand the low ratings or why it's so cheap. It's a steal! Staff were only around in the morning and evening as far as I could tell, but that wasn't a problem with automated check-in, a hotline for help, and reception open if you arrive before 9 pm. For special requests, don't expect great customer service. It's a discount hotel, so you may need patience. My emails, for instance, got slow and unsatisfactory replies. Some reviews mention thin walls. I think that can depend on the room and how noisy other guests are, but insulation seems worse at most other similarly priced hotels in the region. On my last visit, nobody stayed in the room next to mine, and it was very quiet.

The desk person and the cleaning lady were lovely, but check-in took 30 minutes because of a mistake on their end. Reception is closed in the middle of the day, and there's only a machine to let you in, so it was hard to reach a person when I arrived. The room was cold, the air conditioning didn't work, and noise from other rooms carried on through much of the night.

I was driving with my dog and didn't know which city we'd stop in, so being able to rely on B&B was a big plus. The check-in process had a few setbacks and could be improved. Still, the stay did what I needed, and the experience was satisfactory.

I told the staff after realizing someone had used the parking code to steal the motorbike from inside the lot. They suddenly seemed unable to understand English and did nothing to help. The police didn’t do anything either. They gave out the code and someone else got access. Do not go here.
