Le Manoir De Gressy

The room looked pleasant at first, but there were problems all through our stay. The pool area was piled with household items, and the housekeeping cart sat in a mess beside the elevator for all three days. We were also watched by the restaurant staff during breakfast, which made us uncomfortable. The bathroom was the worst part. The tub plug wouldn’t open properly, so water stayed in the tub and drained slowly. Water splashed and leaked around the sink, and the floor hadn’t been cleaned well. In the bedroom, the curtain hooks were pulling out of the wall and the curtains kept falling down. The window was in terrible shape, the wardrobe looked old and neglected, and there were stains on the sheets. There weren’t enough usable sockets, so we had to unplug a lamp to charge a phone. Breakfast was called a buffet, though there was very little to pick from: four cheeses, two hams, fruit, bread, croissants, cereal, and jam. One ham was spoiled and smelled awful. I usually write positive accommodation reviews, but this stay really disappointed me. I wouldn’t come back. It just isn’t worth the money.

I enjoyed my night and bath here, and the place itself is lovely, comfortable, and decorated in an authentic style. The location suits me well: after working in Paris, I can drive toward Germany in the morning without getting caught in Paris traffic. Breakfast was the one drawback, though the products were excellent: great bread, butter, cheese, and ham. The orange juice was from concentrate. The bacon needed more cooking, and the eggs cooled too quickly, perhaps because the plate they were served on was cold. There was a lovely outdoor area with the tables set, but I wasn’t allowed to use it and wasn’t told why. Having to ask the man for each breakfast item felt awkward. At other hotels without a buffet, I’ve been able to mark choices on a sheet and see what’s available, instead of trying to remember a list as someone recites it. The same went for water, which I had to ask for. Still, I might come back.

The rooms were spacious and very nice, and the bathroom was especially large. I loved wandering around the property, with its beautiful courtyard, lovely views, and exquisite paintings. The pool was a good size, too. We spent three days here for work, and the conference room comfortably fit everyone. It’s near the airport and not too far from the city, though there isn’t much else to do in the immediate area. Breakfast was lovely. Lunch and dinner weren’t anything special, and it was a shame they kept running out of butter when there was such nice bread.

Our room was quiet and clean, and the hotel’s design is appealing, but the place feels a little neglected and worn around the edges. We stayed one night because it’s close to the airport. The restaurant’s Sunday closure was no surprise, but the “gourmet meal in a jar” offered as room service was a disappointment. I’d take an Uber into the nearby town to eat instead. On Monday, we were told at breakfast that the buffet wasn’t being served and we’d have to order from the menu. The food was uninspired, there was only one kind of jam, and the service lacked energy. We asked for water and got a carafe without any glasses. This could be a very nice hotel with some attention and care.
