The windows had mold, there were cobwebs in every corner, and the room smelled of cigarette smoke. It clearly hadn't been cleaned in a long time. The bed was basically a mattress on the floor, and the private bathroom I'd booked was missing its door. The place is very old, and nothing like the photos. Honestly, everything felt like a dump. Look closely at the pictures before you book.

There was free coffee, which was the one good thing. Otherwise, the place is old inside and out and badly needs renovating. The toilet was shared with other people in the house, while the room had only a shower and sink. When we arrived, the room smelled strongly of urine, like someone had used it as a toilet. The bed was dirty and uncomfortable. The heater made such a loud noise at night that sleeping was difficult, and there was no way to block the light from the window, so we were up at 6 in the morning. You'll need a car because there's nothing nearby. Colmar is 30 minutes away by car and Strasbourg is 1 hour 20 minutes.

We had a generous breakfast before setting off on the trail again. After a tough hike, we'd stopped at Chez L'habitant and waited a minute while a couple of bears were served. Michel was a very good host. The setting was quiet, the beds were good, and the shower was great.

Our hosts were friendly and easy to get along with. The room was roomy, with both a shower and a big bathtub. A very pleasant stay, recommended!

We ended up here at the last minute after a disastrous stay in a one-bedroom apartment in Mulhouse, and the owners rescued our trip. They were kind, sociable, attentive, and made us feel at home right away. Even though our first room worked perfectly well, they offered us a larger one for the second night, which was a lovely gesture. Their advice helped us enjoy the Christmas markets and nearby sights. Guebwiller was handy for getting around, about 30 minutes from Colmar and the neighboring markets, and 50 minutes from Freiburg in Germany. We were here with my wife and daughter to explore the markets, and we'd gladly come back. Huge thanks for the welcome. This is a warm, lively guesthouse, not a 5-star hotel. There may be small flaws, but that's no reason to complain when you're staying in someone's home. If you want total quiet and perfect soundproofing, rent a whole house. People come here for the welcome, friendliness, and authentic feel, and those were impeccable for us.
