Hotel Restaurant Les Pins

We arrived without a booking and were able to get a double room. It's conveniently close to the motorway, and the room was cute and tidy with a comfortable bed. The bathroom was fine, though a little dated, and hot water took a long time to arrive. The restaurant was welcoming and the food was very good. I had the tournedos with mushroom ravioli, while my husband chose the mature dry-aged ribeye off the bone. The waiter brought the joint to the table so you could choose your cut; the price was per 100g, with a 200g minimum. The wine pricing is a clever idea: you pay the supplier's price for the bottle, plus a €15 corkage fee to drink it with your meal. If you enjoy it and want to take more away, you only pay the wine's cost. WiFi didn't reach our end room, the conservatory, where we had more space to work, but it was fine elsewhere. Breakfast cost €12 per person, not especially cheap, but the breads, hams, and cheeses were fresh. We'd stay again. ;-)

The half-board rate wasn't expensive, but dinner was very poor. The vegetables and potatoes were overcooked, and the meal felt very cheap, even though we'd had good food there before. The basement room made me feel depressed, the bathroom door wouldn't close, and without ventilation the room smelled stale. Fortunately, there are other hotels and restaurants with friendlier owners, including one across the street.

The wine list is huge, with a great selection from all over France, and the restaurant serves very good, typical local dishes. The staff were very friendly too. The hotel itself was lovely, with clean, cozy rooms. Hope to come back soon. Thanks!

The hotel felt like a horror film, a real "Bates Motel" kind of place. There's a huge parrot cage in the lobby that looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years, and a large dog, about three feet tall, wandered through the hall and into guests' rooms. The room itself was run-down, with missing door handles, cracked walls, and stained sheets. There was no AC, and they said they didn't have fans either. The staff weren't helpful or friendly. At reception, they didn't realize we were part of the self-guided bike tour, even though our luggage had already been put in a hotel room. They showed us rooms that looked untouched since the 60s, and when they finally understood, I had to ask them to show me the room where our luggage was. Bizarre. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere, with the nearest supermarket a 20-minute walk away. We stayed one night as part of the tour.
