The breakfast was generous and delicious, and our room had a fantastic view from the top of town. The staff treated us so well, even giving us mosquito oil for free and filling our water bottles for the hike. The only thing we missed was trying the spa and massage services, so we need to come back! Totally recommended.

We had a lovely stay at this little hotel. Rose made gluten-free treats especially for breakfast, which meant a lot since one of us has a gluten intolerance. We definitely recommend it if you want to be close to great hiking routes and feel welcome too.

Our room and bathroom were clean and straightforward, though there was no safe. The staff spoke very little English, but they were friendly and did their best to make things work. We stayed two nights on half-board. The Creole buffet dinners were good, if a bit repetitive across the two days. We also asked for early takeaway breakfasts both mornings, and that was no problem at all. A handy base for hiking around Salazie and Hell-Bourg.

There was a buffet underway when I stopped by the restaurant on a Monday evening, and although plenty of diners were there, I could see empty tables. Halle-Bourg seemed shut everywhere else that night, but I was still firmly told “no.” They showed no flexibility and came across as not caring at all. What a shame.
