Hotel Restaurant Du Lac de Madine

The restaurant was justifiably fully booked, and the food was sublime. The staff were excellent, and while it isn’t cheap, it feels like great value for the quality of the ingredients and cooking. The team seems headed for bigger things. The rooms are well appointed too, better than you’d expect from a three star place. A must if you’re in the area.

We stopped here for lunch while passing through. The Guinea fowl and grilled sea bass were exquisite, and we thought the other dishes were at the same high standard. For cooking this good, the prices are very reasonable. The staff were super friendly, and the toilets and other facilities are modern and clean.

There’s a very high end restaurant in the hotel, and the place itself is really nice.

The staff welcomed me warmly and spoke English, and my room felt more like a room in a new home. I was in a separate building beside the main hotel. Dinner and breakfast were both outstanding, and the stay became one of the most memorable parts of my trip. I’d just flown overnight from the States and was driving on the motorway when the drowsiness alert in my rental car kept going off. I knew I wasn’t going to make my hotel reservation in Normandy, so I found this place on Priceline. It was quite a way out, but the drive there was one of the most beautiful I’ve ever taken. IIRC is was 49 miles. When I reached the town, it felt like stepping back in time. I was in France following the Liberty Road and retracing my father’s footsteps during the war.
