The place itself was lovely, but I’m very upset that the owner wouldn’t return our deposit. He told Gites de-France we hadn’t paid him, even though seven people witnessed us hand over the cash. We’re now going through a complaints procedure with Gites De France.

Coming back to this cottage and its cool interior is such a pleasure. The owner is really friendly and does what he can to make your stay enjoyable, and we’ve decided our next stay will be here too. The house is spacious and practical, with everything you need for a pleasant visit. From the living room or dining room the view is lovely, but it’s even more breathtaking from either of the two terraces, where you feel like you’re floating above the Vosges forest. It’s also well placed for visiting lots of interesting destinations.

I like places that leave you feeling refreshed, and this cottage does that, with breathtaking views over the valley. You can enjoy a meal by the bay window, light a fire in the living room, or settle into the jacuzzi on the garden level, sheltered from the weather.

You get beautiful mountain views and plenty of peace and quiet, with no overlooking neighbors, just goats nearby. Dogs are welcome, too. The cottage is clean and comfortable, with a good bed, secure parking, a fully equipped kitchen, and a large bathroom. The friendly owner is another plus. The sauna and jacuzzi are especially nice when it’s cold.

A friendly gîte in the village of Hommert, close to the Dabo rock.
