Booking.com’s response made an already awful stay feel even worse. After I complained about what happened, they offered just €17 in compensation for a €143 booking. That felt dismissive and far too small for issues involving a guest’s comfort and safety, hygiene, and the host’s conduct. A platform this large should take reports like this seriously. The support I got fell well short of what guests should be able to expect. At Autour de la Rose, the room itself was also in poor shape when we arrived: it wasn’t ready, there was no water or soap, and the courtesy tray hadn’t been set out. The fitted sheet was stained, and a towel had been stuffed into a hole in the bathroom wall. The next morning, the host didn’t apologize or acknowledge his behavior. He only mentioned having a headache, then offered an average breakfast as compensation. The arrival was especially uncomfortable. The host appeared extremely drunk, not just a little tipsy, and seemed unfit to welcome guests. His comments were inappropriate and his manner overly familiar, leaving us feeling unsafe. For €143, this was unacceptable and unprofessional. I strongly advise people to think twice. I can’t recommend this property.

Morgane welcomed us with real warmth and a lovely sense of originality at the Autour de La Rose guesthouse in Honfleur. The house feels like a charming step back in time, with tasteful decor. Our room was beautiful, spacious, and comfortable, and we felt at home right away. It’s a lovely place to unwind and enjoy Honfleur. We highly recommend it.

The room was pleasant, and the old building has charm in a nice location. Still, the welcome was a joke. The entrance is through the courtyard at number 96/98, although the listed address is 100. The bathroom wiring didn’t seem up to code, breakfast was only average hotel quality, and with no double glazing you can hear the road. At €140, it’s nowhere near worth the price.
