La Residence de La Diligence

Parking inside the gate is limited, though free overnight parking nearby, either out front or farther down the road, is available from 8pm to 8am. The location was perfect for us: there's a grocery store and a self-serve washer and dryer across the street, a pharmacy and a couple of restaurants down the road, and the downtown port, shops and more restaurants are about a ten-minute walk away. Reception service was superb, and we loved the hotel's character. Our rooms were adorable and full of personality. We booked two rooms under a set of stairs and didn't have any noise problems from people going up and down to the upper rooms. A couple of things to know: there are heaters but no air conditioning, which isn't unusual in France, though some hotels do have mini units. Our group of four had mixed experiences. Two of us felt warm sleeping two to a room with the windows closed, even though it was 8-10°C (46-50°F) outside. Lighter clothes helped a lot on the second night. The courtyard lights come on with motion, including the floodlights, which is handy when walking to your room but less so with curtains that don't block the light. It was a great stay, and I'd love to come back.
