Le Manoir des Impressionnistes Hôtel & Restaurant

The location and water view were lovely, and the historic building is beautiful, but the hotel didn’t feel like five stars. The rooms are dated and the sheets seemed very worn from many washes. Breakfast was fresh and great on our first morning, but the next day the croissants seemed old and coffee took ages. We ate at the restaurant on our first night. The food was okay, nothing special, and our server added portions to the table because she thought one wouldn’t be enough to share. We’d ordered one cheese plate but were charged for two, even though one was plenty. Some staff were extremely helpful and nice, while others seemed less engaged, perhaps because of the language barrier. We liked the location, but all this fell short of a five-star experience, and we won’t return.

The rooms were nice, the staff friendly, and the location good, but at €500 a night and with five-star status we expected more. The amenities are limited. We’d understood from photos and reviews that the pool, sauna, and spa treatments were available, but were told the policy changed last year and access is now limited to guests who book the spa villa. Breakfast was limited too, served in a small room in the Manoir rather than as an extensive buffet in the separate restaurant, as some reviews suggest.

For the price, lunch was disappointing, both in service and food. The waiter was new and wasn’t trained to take the order properly, and the service didn’t meet what you’d expect at such a classy address. The oysters were good, but the duck breast was plain and cooked at low temperature. Its sauce was scant and tasteless. The vegetables were not watery, and the potatoes were the only thing with an interesting texture. The cheese plate was a real letdown too. There was only one local choice, and everything came straight from the fridge, hard with a plaster-like texture. We skipped dessert rather than spend more on a meal that had disappointed us. The food quality and service didn’t justify the high price.

By far the best stay of our trip. The large room had an incredibly comfortable bed, and breakfast was included, with the option to have it brought to us. The croissants were probably the best I’ve ever had, and there was plenty to choose from. There weren’t any vegetarian options at the on-site Restaraunt, but the staff suggested some great places in Honfleur, and we had a lovely meal thanks to them. Everyone was welcoming and excellent. The young man who checked us in gave us dinner suggestions and mentioned his mother’s jewelry shop in Honfleur. We went and bought a beautiful necklace. What a beautiful manor for an overnight stay. Thanks for having us.
