We had a simple steak tartare and a wonderful omelette complete for lunch, with a very acceptable house rosé and red. The food is well done home cooking, and the lady who runs the place is delightful. We finished with a lovely local Calvados and left feeling in good hands, just as the blackboard says: ‘sit back you are in good hands’. It's a classic bar brasserie with checked tablecloths on a busy corner, a few hundred yards from the more touristy restaurants on the quayside. That walk away from the waterfront is worth it to find this deliciously French eatery, which felt all the more authentic for being away from the tourist spots.

We arrived late, as arranged, and the kind, helpful host had left written instructions for us. The rooms were clean, with a sink in the room and shared toilets and showers. Bring a portable fan if you have one, since there aren’t enough for every room. Breakfast on the terrace ran until 11 am. Great for a small budget, and I’d recommend it and stay again.

The wine felt pricey: €5.50 for a small glass of house white, when a glass that size is about €2 in most places. The food was mediocre, though not terrible, and the woman serving us seemed a little rude. Maybe she was having a bad day, but perhaps that was part of the reason it was a bad day.

The food was just okay, and I spent a lot despite not eating much. We were served a cake with a lot of alcohol in it and weren’t warned. There was no menu listing the dishes or ingredients, and even the table and toilet were very small. I wouldn’t come back.
