Hotel L'Europe Colmar, BW Signature Collection

The room was reasonably clean and well kept, and the staff were pleasant and helpful. But it was tiny, with the bed taking up most of the space, and the sloped attic ceiling made it hard to move around. The stay was fine, just pretty basic and more like a three-star hotel than anything higher.

The room was beautiful and comfortable, and we'd recommend the hotel. We spent one night at Hotel L'Europe for the Colmar Christmas Markets. The building is well maintained and nicely decorated, but the little seasonal touches were what really made it stand out. The breakfast buffet had gingerbread, stollen and Christmas jam. In the foyer, there was festive decor, a photo spot, music and complimentary Christmas tea. At checkout they gave us a small jar of Christmas jam, which was such a heartwarming detail and made the stay memorable.

We found the room spacious and comfortable, and the staff gave us a friendly welcome. The hotel seemed clean, though we noticed cobwebs and spiders in spots that were easy to reach and could have been cleared away. Soundproofing was very good despite the hotel being moderately busy. The shower pressure was low, but it had several useful settings. The bed and pillows felt too soft and may need replacing. We didn't try breakfast because €17 per person seemed too expensive. The free parking area is large, and the hotel is handy for exploring the area, about seven minutes by car or 25 minutes on foot from Colmar. It's also near the highway exit, supermarkets and other services.

Check what amenities are actually available before you book. The restaurant, for example, can be closed even though it's advertised as open on all the apps, and you may not be able to cancel. It shuts on Sundays and Mondays if you want to eat there. The Wi-Fi was so slow it was unusable for work.
