Ibis Colmar Est - Hotel Restaurant en Alsace

The hotel had bus groups staying for two days and couldn't handle the number of people at breakfast. Lots of guests complained on the first day; things were a little better on the second. The staff were very unpleasant. I was promised a refund for both breakfasts each day, but I still haven't received it.

Free on-site parking has plenty of spaces, and the location just outside Colmar makes it easy to drive into town. There’s also a restaurant on the property with tasty local dishes. For the price, it’s decent value, though parts of the hotel feel a bit tired. Service varies depending on which staff member you deal with.

The hotel is in an out-of-town retail park, with a fuel station nearby and a large car park. There are only fast-food places within walking distance, though the hotel restaurant may be an option. Rooms are typical for a chain hotel, but the bathroom looked tired. Breakfast was very good, and dogs are allowed for a small extra fee.

The staff were lovely and friendly. They tried speaking English and didn't correct or mock my poor French. When I asked for ice each morning, they brought it promptly and didn't charge. Sweets and drinking water were always available at reception. Check-in and checkout were easy, though I had to remind them that using 6,000 Accor points meant my rate was lower, since they had to apply that discount manually. For the price, the room was good value, a decent size, and had a roomy bathroom with a large shower. There was enough shelving and hanging space if I kept my things organized, plus an extra pillow and fleece blanket. The towels were good, but there was only one drying bar and no power sockets beside the bed. The location was nice and parking was available. Breakfast offered a good continental selection, a great tea bar and machine coffee that was better than at other ibis hotels I've stayed in. Around 70% of the food was fresh, with good bread and pastries and no tinned vegetables. But breakfast was chaotic, with only one person working at a time, so tables and chairs were messy and covered in crumbs. I ate dinner there once. There was no lead chef, so the only food available was taste flambé, something like a very thin pizza. It was good and generously topped, and a glass of local bubbly cost just €5. There aren't extra features, but at this price, who cares? It was a very good stay, and I'd recommend the place.
