By the Moulin Rouge

The show at Moulin Rouge was magical, with colorful outfits and dramatic stage lighting. Some of the women performed topless, but it came across as artistic rather than sexual, and the strong acts were awesome. We had a great view from our table. Before the show, a band played during dinner, and some guests danced. The food was plentiful and wonderful, and the service was great. My wife and I had a romantic evening, and it was also fun meeting our tablemates from England and Australia. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Paris. 5 stars ⭐️

What a show! If you enjoy dancing, singing, and theatrical performances, this is a must see. There’s nudity, but it’s tasteful and well done. Book well in advance, then get there at least 20 minutes before the doors open. An usher seats you, and getting in line earlier means a better seat. The wait can be long, and you don’t want to be left outside.

After nearly nine years living in Paris, I finally went to Moulin Rouge, despite worrying it might disappoint me. I grew up with the movie and have always loved the Broadway production, so the place had become a kind of magic I preferred to admire from outside. I was completely wrong to be nervous. The staff were warm and everything was well organized from start to finish. I expected the venue to look a little worn, but it was immaculate, with vivid colors and beautiful decor. The show went far beyond dancing: the costumes, technical effects, lighting, and range of performances kept surprising me. The artistry stood out most. The dancers are incredible athletes as well as performers, every act brought something new, and the energy never let up. It felt like a celebration of Paris for locals, visitors, and anyone who loves the city. I still can’t fully describe how magical the evening was. It’s now one of the most memorable nights I’ve had in Paris. I’m still amazed. ❤️

If you’re after a spectacle, Moulin Rouge delivers. The costumes are stunning and several acts are great, though you may be disappointed if you expect a connected story or something like the movie or Broadway show. It really depends what you’re looking for. I thought it was well worth experiencing. Book well ahead if you can. I tried a day or two before my preferred night and everything was sold out, but checking again one morning, I got lucky and found tickets for that same evening. The official site mentions a dress code, but from what I could see it wasn’t enforced. The line was long, though it moved quickly once doors opened. Tables seat around 8 (?) people, so unless you’re in a group that size, you’ll likely sit with strangers.
