Mandukhai

The two ryokans with hot baths and the yurt were all really well equipped. Our host made us feel welcome, and the delicious dinner was followed by a generous, excellent breakfast. It was a lovely break, with plenty of time to unwind and a real change of scenery, all at a very reasonable price.

The room was spotless, including the toilet and shower, and the evening meal was delicious for a very reasonable price. Breakfast was decent too. The owner was very friendly, though he seemed to have lost some enthusiasm, and we never even met the cook, the only person from the country. The place has a lot of potential, but the garden is poorly maintained and the pond is just a muddy pool. From our room balcony, bamboo was all we could see. At around 100 euros without meals, the price felt too high for a room with no fridge or kitchenette and no view. Mongolia still felt very far away, so there wasn't much of a change of scenery. It worked for one night, but I wouldn't stay longer. Maybe I'll try the yurt another time, along with the meal :o)

The road nearby was the one drawback. Still, sleeping in the yurt was comfortable, and its setting felt like a change of scenery. We were warmly welcomed, the dinner was good, and breakfast was plentiful. A good experience overall.

The meal was fantastic, and we had a peaceful, thoroughly enjoyable stay. Everything was well kept, and the accommodations were comfortable. The teenagers stayed in the yurt while the adults slept in the ryokan, where the Japanese bath was wonderfully relaxing. Dinner and breakfast were served on-site. We were made to feel very welcome, and we'd love to come back when the sun is out.
