Hôtel Villa les Bains

The beach is a five minute walk away, and there are lots of cute villages and towns to drive to. You can also visit the D day beaches from here. We went to Sword Beach to pay tribute, and found free parking in the area. We stayed three nights in a family room with our two children and enjoyed it very much. The owners work incredibly hard, and this was one of the cleanest places I’ve stayed. That mattered even more with a crawling baby who puts things in their mouth. The children were welcomed and made to feel special, which I always appreciate. Breakfast was regularly replenished, with the usual French choices like cheese, bread, jams and eggs. Yes, we’d stay again. You two made our little French holiday extra special.

The only downside was how little daylight reached the room. The small window in the entrance door didn’t let in much light. Still, we don’t go to Houlgate to spend time in the room, and the beach was the main draw. The hosts were fantastic, kind and helpful, the atmosphere was lovely, and breakfast was great. The location was perfect, and the room had enough equipment with a thoughtfully designed bathroom.

The beach is within a five minute walk, with plenty of restaurants and bistros nearby. The rooms were comfortable, staff spoke excellent English and were very accommodating with requests. It’s a great hotel on the main street of a quaint seaside town, and there’s free unlimited parking on local streets.

We were sorry to leave. We rented a really spacious apartment, stylishly decorated and super clean, and it was thoroughly cleaned every day. The staff were polite, hospitable and very nice, checking daily that everything was okay. I eat gluten-free bread and hadn’t mentioned it before arriving. I’d brought my own so it wouldn’t be a problem, but the staff noticed, and the very next day they had cornbread for me. Such a lovely gesture.
