A La Rencontre Du Soleil - Camping

My kids made good use of the pool, the large tennis and soccer court, and the cosy games room when we got a rain shower. The campsite is right at the foot of Alp d’Huez, and it was spotless and friendly. I was impressed to hear from the owner that three generations of the same family run it. They made us feel so welcome. We’ll be back!

Shame we only had one night here, because we really enjoyed it. Everyone was welcoming, the pool was great, and the views and location were even better. Photos don’t come close. Our pitch was wet and muddy, but it was fine. For context, we have an 8m twin axle caravan, and this is a tight site, especially at the entrance. We were lucky there was an empty pitch opposite when we needed to turn around. We have motor movers, but didn’t need them for the one night. We also drove 25 minutes up the mountain to the ski resort, where there were fireworks that night for their national holiday.

The site is well run, the facilities are clean and checked regularly, and every member of staff was friendly and helpful. There’s also a good restaurant on site. When my vehicle battery was flat one morning, the owner even gave me a jump start. The position is handy, but €45 a night whether you want electricity or are on your own feels very expensive. The pitches seemed a bit overused, with patchy grass even on June 1, early in the season. I’d thoroughly recommend the site, though it’s a little pricey for me. Cheers, JC

Set among stunning mountains, the location is second to none. It’s a fantastic campsite for families and adults alike, with facilities that are very well maintained and cleaned several times a day. There’s a lovely pool, a decent restaurant on site, and fresh bread can be ordered daily.
