Hotel Le Plein Sud Hyeres

The best things about the hotel were the indoor pool, the outdoor man-made "lake", and its location right across from the beach. The room amenities, though, felt very sparse for what we paid. There was no bottled water, kettle, coffee setup, or refrigerator. France’s tap water is potable, sure, but the price still seemed too high for so little. For toiletries, we got shower gel and handwash, but no shampoo, dental kit, or other bathroom items. The shower gel pump didn’t work, so we had to unscrew the bottle, set the pump aside, and pour the gel into our hands. The towels were stained, and the pillows were so flat we had to fold them over to get any support. With no shower curtain, water splashed out of the shower cubicle onto the rest of the bathroom floor. Getting checked in took far too long. Staff asked for our passports and then our names, even though the names were right there on the passports. We’d booked three rooms for our family and were first given just one key card for each room, so we asked for two per room because there were two people in each. After making the second set, the staff member handed them to us, then asked for them back to check they were encoded for our whole stay and not just one night. The computer was slow, which dragged things out, and on day two one card stopped working and had to be reactivated. The elevators are tiny. One of the two was out of service for our entire stay, so most of the time we just took the stairs. The front desk also isn’t staffed around the clock. When we went down with a question at night, we were told to call a [night watchman] and waited for him to come help us.
