L'orée des 3 Rivières

A charming hotel in a peaceful spot by the river, with very good amenities for the price. The sheets and towels smelled fresh.

The price was low, but that's about the only thing in its favor. The owner was on vacation, so the phone number couldn't be reached. The replacement at reception was pleasant. The towels and bedding smelled musty, and even after drying myself, that was all I could smell. The TV was small, though I was lucky to arrive before the other guests and get one at all. In the bathroom there was no light, apart from a small LED bulb in the mirror that had burned out. The bed was very soft. The outlets were loose and the place seemed poorly maintained. It would do for one night if you don't want to sleep outside, but I can't recommend it.

This is the family hotel from our youth, a little place that really deserves to be better known. The owner is kind and available, the breakfast is generous, and the surroundings are quiet and pleasant. The rooms look out either over the river or onto a garden. There have been new owners for two years, and we can only encourage them, as they're doing all they can to improve the place. A sign on the square near the dead-end street would be helpful.

We stayed one night, July 15-16, 2023, and got a very warm, pleasant welcome. The staff were attentive, available, and flexible. We had wedding-related constraints, and they did what they could to make arrival and departure easier. Our room was adequate and quiet, in an exceptional setting. Breakfast was very good, and it was good value for money. For a night or a few days, it's a nice little hotel with some things to improve. The setting is peaceful and bucolic, and the welcome is warm. One issue: sunrise is at 5:00 AM, so blackout curtains would help and might spare many guests from being disturbed. It took us a while to find the single outlet for a hair straightener and razor, and it was quite far from the bathroom. There was no mattress protector, which concerns me since everyone sleeps on that bed, and I'm not sure there were pillow protectors either. Hygiene here could be improved. Also, if you have mobility issues like I do, there are stairs, so ask for a ground floor room.
