We didn’t stay overnight, but the owner was so kind and let us wander through his garden. He was born there, and his wife had brought the garden back to life before she sadly passed away several years ago. He also showed us the main room, with photos from WW2 onward, including famous people who came during that period. The place could use some upkeep, but he’s managing it alone. Lovely place for a rustic French experience 🥰

We had a lovely breakfast, and the garden with its picnic tables was a great spot for a late picnic. The castle itself is beautiful, with enchanting architecture, a moat around it, and giant windows. Our kind, helpful host showed us around and shared its stories. Such a special place for the price. I hope we can come back!

James and his family have owned the property for generations, and that history is a big part of the stay. The warm welcome, stories about the place, Madame Hamel's garden, and restaurant recommendations all made for a special experience. It’s a wonderful way to get a real feel for the French countryside. Highly recommend!

Staying in this historic place was a gift, and James made us feel so welcome. Breakfast was lovely, with fresh bread, cheese, preserves, yogurt, coffee, and hot chocolate. Our family made some wonderful memories here. If you enjoy history and a place that’s clearly cared for, this is a great choice. Thank you, James!

The chateau is peaceful and quiet, just right for relaxing while exploring Normandy. It’s a 15 minute drive from Omaha and Utah Beach, point Du la hoc, and several other historic war sites. James is kind and helpful with local information, and he shares stories about his grandmother’s experiences during the war. He also makes a wonderful breakfast. The chateau’s history is remarkable: the U.S. press corps stayed here during the war, including Ernest Hemingway and Ernie Pyle. It’s a working dairy farm, so you notice a bit of a smell on the drive in, but not around the chateau itself. I’ve just left and already want to return.
