Gite Ferme d'Ervée de Saint-Roch

Fifteen of us spent a wonderful weekend at la Ferme d’Ervée de Saint-Roche, making memories together on the gorgeous property. Fabrice and Catherine were warm and attentive hosts, and it felt like a home away from home. The individually themed rooms are tastefully decorated, and many work comfortably for families with children. The property is eco friendly and respectful of the environment. Catherine and Fabrice meticulously planned our daily activities and kept the schedule organized so we wouldn’t miss anything in this culturally rich part of Normandy. Breakfast was served at a communal table with local jams, organic honey, fresh bread from town, and yogurt and white cheese from the renowned Isgny Ste Mere. Catherine’s perfect soft boiled eggs came fresh from her garden hens. We’ll be back, and I hope you get to experience the local culture, world history, and traditional regional food, along with Catherine and her husband’s gracious welcome.

We came to honor the French Resistance and our D-Day Veterans, and Catherine and her husband welcomed us so warmly. The home is immaculate, with old farmhouse charm blended beautifully with modern decor. Its location is special too: 15 minutes to Omaha Beach, St. Mere l'Eglise, and St. Marie du Mont/Utah Beach. Don’t miss the Utah Beach Museum. You’re right in the heart of the marshes, where it’s easy to picture the soldiers and allied forces parachuting in. From outside the home, you can see rolling hills and acres of poppy fields when they’re in season, and a walk just beyond the farm takes you through history. The property and its owners are a gift.

The location was ideal, the accommodation was beautiful, and the hosts were wonderful. We stayed for a week during the 80th Anniversary of D-Day. I’d recommend it wholeheartedly, and we’ll be back!

We absolutely loved our stay, and our hosts were the most pleasant we met in Normandy. If it’s available, I’d suggest having the evening meal. The cook was supremely delightful.
