My sister and I needed somewhere near the hospital because our father was dying there. Staying here made an already awful time even harder. The room was dated and dirty, with hardly any power points. The bathroom had no toiletries, and its broken shower head wouldn’t stay overhead. The beds were uncomfortable, and we each found a bed bug in ours in the morning. BEWARE! We’d paid for breakfast as part of the room rate, but the dining room was deserted, the lights were off, and there was no food or staff. Earlier, we’d been told there were no towels. The receptionist then said he’d taken pity on us and would allow one towel between us, before changing that to two. The towels were the size of tea towels and completely useless. After visiting hours, we were tired and sad from spending the day with our dying dad. Our key card had been disabled, and there was nobody at reception. We called the emergency number and were told someone would meet us there. When we went down, someone at reception ran off and hid. Eventually we got them to come out and help, though they weren’t happy about it. By some distance, this is the worst hotel I’ve ever had the misfortune to stay in. I’d strongly advise people to choose one of the nearby hotels or Airbnbs, which I’m sure would be much better value.

I found the staff welcoming, and the room and shower room were simple but immaculately clean. The bed and pillows were comfortable, the shower had good pressure, and the little balcony made the room nicer. I didn’t use the TV. I had to fast, so couldn’t try breakfast, though I’m sure its quality would have matched the rest of the stay. Highly recommend.

Paul greeted us and was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and warm, with basic facilities but everything needed for hospital visits. I’ll stay here again when necessary. My only wish was for a later checkout: 10.30 was early, since my husband’s hospital appointment didn’t finish until late afternoon, and it would have been nice for me to stay and have lunch.

This felt like a home away from home during a difficult time. Thank you for being so kind, flexible, and friendly. After I’d left, I received a thoughtful call to let me know I’d forgotten one of my possessions. Merci!
