Motel One Paris-Porte de Versailles

We spent the night at Motel One Paris Porte de Versailles for my mom’s birthday, with my dad and sister along too. The staff made us feel welcome right from arrival, and a red-haired woman was especially kind and made sure we had what we needed. The hotel was clean and comfortable, with a nice atmosphere. We were really pleased with what we got for the price, enjoyed our stay, and would happily come back. Highly recommend it.

The rooms were fine for the price, and the hotel is a convenient 7-10 minute walk from the subway. The service, though, left a bad impression. We and several other guests were waiting around 2:50-2:55, but reception wouldn’t check anyone in before exactly 3 p.m. The same person began checking people in as soon as the clock hit three, which seemed needlessly rigid. Later, the main road to the hotel was blocked, and we couldn’t get our luggage. We had an international flight just a few hours away, but staff offered no way to retrieve our bags and simply said they couldn’t do anything. There wasn’t another entrance or exit, and the lack of initiative made an already stressful situation worse. I wouldn’t stay again unless the service improves.

The hotel itself was clean and good. But in the mornings, a really nasty smell, like sewage and old fish, spread through the place. I have no idea where it came from. I’m glad I hadn’t booked breakfast, because I don’t think I could’ve eaten in that smell. One night the fire alarm woke us at 4 a.m. Everyone went outside, but there were no staff around and nobody explained what was happening. The alarm eventually stopped, so we went back in. It wasn’t a good night, and the staff never apologized or gave any update. I still don’t know what caused it.

The rooftop was such a nice place to have a drink after a day out, and the rooms, service, and overall setup were all lovely. Motel One Paris was a great find for me. It is a bit far from the main sights, though, if you’re trying to see as many as possible.
