Hotel Royal

I expected a mediocre stay, but the room was actually nice and clean, including the shower, and the lobby looked fancy and luxurious. The price was right, and I got much more than I expected. There is a parking garage, but spaces are limited, so arrive early if you want a secure place for your car.

There isn’t much to do around the hotel, but the staff were friendly and tried to help. The room was big and in manageable condition. It’s a decent budget-friendly place, definitely not luxury, and everything was acceptable.

We got a lot for the price, including a very big room with two large double beds and two bathrooms, which was ideal for our family. The outside parking was practical, and our car wasn’t damaged. The employees were nice and very friendly with our two kids. We really can’t complain about the value. There were some drawbacks: the room had a rather peculiar, bad smell, though we got used to it with everything else going for us. Seeing mold on the bathroom ceiling wasn’t nice either, but we got through it. I’d recommend this place to someone who wants to spend less, isn’t expecting luxury, and isn’t too sensitive. If you are sensitive and want a luxury place, don’t go there.

The location is a bit odd, though there’s a bus stop next door and the train is a 15-minute walk away. Reception staff were pleasant, but the cleaning lady seemed impatient to finish her shift. They’ve clearly put effort into the decor, yet it comes off tacky. Our bathroom had a couple of spiders, and the shower kept filling up until my feet were basically having a bath. The walls were so thin it felt like we were in the lobby. The beds were rock hard, so I had to put the spare blanket underneath me. One bed leg tilted inward, and I wondered whether I’d wake up still in bed or on the bedroom floor. The safe was broken too. Make sure you switch the kettle off yourself before it explodes in your room. Other than that, it was decent. You get what you pay for.
